How to set up a DISBOARD bump reminder in Discord
To set up a DISBOARD bump reminder, add the free Bump Reminder bot to your server, run /setup and pick a reminder channel and a role to ping. After your next successful /bump, the bot counts down DISBOARD's 2-hour cooldown and pings that role the moment you can bump again.
The short version
- DISBOARD lets a server bump once every 2 hours.
- Bump Reminder starts that 2-hour timer by itself after every successful bump.
- Setup takes about a minute and needs the Manage Server permission.
- The bot never bumps for you. A real person runs /bump, so your server stays safe.
What is bumping on DISBOARD?
Bumping moves your server to the top of DISBOARD's server list. Anyone in your server can do it by typing /bump in a channel where the DISBOARD bot can reply.
DISBOARD shows recently bumped servers first, so a fresh bump puts your server in front of people looking for a new community. As other servers bump, yours slides down again. Regular bumps keep it near the top and bring in a steady stream of new members.
Why the 2-hour cooldown matters
DISBOARD lets each server bump once every 2 hours. The cooldown starts at your last successful bump, not at a fixed time of day. Bump too early and DISBOARD only tells you how long to wait.
That is up to 12 bumps a day. Every window nobody uses is time your server spends sliding down the list, and nobody wants to watch a clock for it.
A bump reminder closes that gap. Bump Reminder watches for DISBOARD's “Bump done!” reply, counts the 2 hours down and pings your team as soon as the next bump opens.
What you need before you start
- The Manage Server permission. Discord only lets members with it add bots, and Bump Reminder's setup commands are limited to it by default.
- DISBOARD in your server. Bump Reminder only times your bumps. DISBOARD's own
/bumpstill does the bumping. - A channel for reminders. Many servers use a
#bumpchannel where members also run/bump. - A role to ping (optional). A role like @Bumpers lets you ping only the people who want to bump.
Set up a DISBOARD bump reminder in 5 steps
The whole setup happens inside Discord and takes about a minute.
-
Step 1
Add Bump Reminder to your server
Open the invite link, choose your server and press Authorize. Discord only lists servers where you have the Manage Server permission.
Add Bump Reminder to Discord -
Step 2
Run
/setupType
/setupin any channel and press Enter. A setup wizard opens that only you can see. It has five screens: Next moves on, Skip leaves an optional screen empty and Back goes back.- 1/5Language. Pick the language for reminders and bot replies: English, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish or German.
- 2/5Reminder channel. Pick the text channel or thread where reminders appear. The bot checks that it can see and post there before it saves your choice.
- 3/5Ping role (optional). Pick the role to mention in every reminder, or press Skip for reminders without a ping.
- 4/5Messages (optional). Press Edit Messages to write your own reminder and thank-you text, or press Skip to keep the defaults.
- 5/5Review and confirm. Check the summary and press Confirm. The bot replies “Setup complete!”.
No timezone to set. Bump Reminder shows times as Discord timestamps, so every member sees them in their own timezone.
-
Step 3
Send a test reminder with
/test-messageRun
/test-message. The bot posts a sample DISBOARD reminder in your reminder channel, with your text and your ping role. If it can't post there, it tells you, so you can fix the channel's permissions or pick another channel in/settings.The default reminder: your ping role, the reminder text and a clickable /bumpcommand.The test pings the role for real, so give your team a heads-up first.
-
Step 4
Bump once to start the timer
Run DISBOARD's
/bumpas usual. When DISBOARD replies “Bump done!”, Bump Reminder starts the 2-hour countdown. Two hours later, the first reminder lands in your channel. From then on, every successful bump restarts the timer by itself. You never start or stop it by hand.
-
Step 5
Check the countdown with
/remainingRun
/remainingany time to see how long is left until the next DISBOARD bump. It says “Ready to bump!” when the window is open. Only you see the answer, so it doesn't clutter the chat.
Tips for a team that never misses a bump
Make the ping role opt-in
Let members add @Bumpers themselves, so reminders only reach people who want to bump.
Give bumping its own channel
A #bump channel keeps reminders and DISBOARD's replies in one place, out of your main chat.
Thank every bumper
Turn on Thank You in /settings. After each bump, the bot thanks the person who bumped by name.
Show the next bump time
Turn on Reactions in /settings. The bot answers every bump with the time the next one opens.
Turn it into a game
/stats shows your server's total bumps. /top ranks members by how often they bump, so your regulars get the credit.
Track only what you use
Use more than one bump service? Manage Bots in /settings picks which ones send reminders.
Why a reminder is safer than auto-bump
Auto-bump tools run /bump for you with a script that logs in as a member. That bends DISBOARD's rules and puts your server at risk.
A reminder keeps a real person on the button. Bump Reminder only handles the timing: it never runs /bump and never needs anyone's login.
Auto-bump tools
Risky- A script bumps, not a person
- Needs a member's account to run
- Puts your server at risk
Bump Reminder
Safe- Pings your team when the cooldown ends
- A real person runs /bump
- Stays within DISBOARD's rules
If a reminder doesn't arrive
Most missed reminders come down to one of these five things:
- No reminder channel. The bot needs a channel to post in. Run
/settingsand pick one. - The bot can't see DISBOARD's reply. It needs View Channel in the channel where your team runs
/bump. Without it, the timer never starts. - The bot can't post. It needs View Channel and Send Messages in the reminder channel, or Send Messages in Threads for a thread.
/test-messageshows whether it can post. - The role isn't pinged. Make the role mentionable, or give the bot the Mention @everyone, @here and All Roles permission.
- The bump didn't go through. The timer starts only after DISBOARD confirms a successful bump, not when it asks you to wait.
